Mrs. Ttyymmnn will be working from home tomorrow, so I thought I’d clean up the home workspace a bit. Normally, the desk is so cluttered with crap that there’s just one spot on it for my coffee cup. I’m in pretty good company, though. Here’s Einstein sitting at his desk.

Haha! A clean desk. That’s funny.

Every time I clean my desk I just put the crap back on it I took off to clean it.

As long as there is room for the beer...

I still have a box under my desk from the last time I “cleaned” it. I just threw everything into the box. This time, though, I actually put/threw everything away. And my god, the dust....

Ah I don’t have a dust problem...on my desk. It’s just everywhere else.

I just let papers pile up and never file anything away like I should.

As a teacher I have a rather large L-sha ped desk in my study. Over the years, it became so cluttered that I had to migrate to the di ning room table for certain tasks. Before the start of this school year I finally reorganised, threw a lot stuff away, etc. I was able to wipe the WHOLE surface, not just the space between piles of paper! The feels man, the feels! It’s like I didn’t clean a work space, but my mind.

It’s funny how you just feel like you have come out from under a weight, though nothing really has changed. My high schooler had a particularly tough freshman year, with a couple of overly busy Pre -AP classes, marching band, and soccer. I built him a desk , but his room was such a mess that he never used it. So M om did him a favor and cleaned his room for him. I think that bit of kindness did him a world of good , and helped ease  his mind as well.

“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what is a clean desk a sign of?”

My organic desk philosophy is having a semicircle of open space at the front surrounded by half a ring of wires and assorted garbage.
